Let's look at the history of elders in our community. We'll explore the language we use, the standards we employ and the general concepts we have about elders. We'll also discuss the reasons why it's so difficult to function as an elder in our community for both the elders and the community. It is my hope that by opening this issue in a larger forum we can begin to aspire to an inspired community eldership and do better for subsequent generations.
